Milk & Wodka
Nach langem Treppenaufsteigen endlich oben im Turmstübli des alten Warteckgebäudes in Basel angekommen treffe ich auf San Remo! Er steht hinter der Bar, seiner selbstgestalteten Bar, extra kreiert für die Art Basel. Die Bar ist nur während der Art Basel offen. San Remo ist Künstler und Illustrator. Der gebürtige Schaffhausener zog es schon früh nach Zürich, wo er die Kunstschule besuchte und sich bald als Illustrator selbständig machte. Mit einem guten Freund aus Schaffhausen, Roman, sind sie als Duo mit dem Künstlernamen "Milk & Wodka" an verschiedenen Ausstellungsorten mit ihren Comic Installationen in der Schweiz bekannt geworden, wie zum Beispiel in Luzern am Comix-Festival und sogar im Ausland in Istanbul, sowie auch Berlin. San Remo hatte seine kleine Solo-Ausstellung im Turmstübli! Die knalligen und bunten Farben erinnern an Pop-Art, seine Bilder und Figuren erzählen von Abenteuer, Liebe, Leben und Tod mit einer Prise schwarzen Humor! Vorne an der Bar sind zwei Platten Covers zu sehen "Dennerclan", so heisst die Band von ihm und seinem Künstler Freund Roman!
Warum der Name "Milk & Wodka"? Am Morgen fühlt sich San Remo wie Milch und am Abend wie Wodka. Was inspiriert ihn für seine Comic-Kunst? Die Musik, Geschichten die aus dem Leben gegriffen sind und Liedertexte. 

Milk & Wodka
After a long climbing tour on the stairs finally I reach for the tower living room in the old Warteck building of Basel and I meet San Remo! He stands behind the bar, his own designed bar especailly for the Art fair Basel. The bar is only during the fair days open.
San Remo is an artist and illustartor. He grew up in Schaffhausen and very early he went for the art school to Zürich. Then he worked as a self employed illustrator. Later with a good friend, called Roman they starded with the artist name "Milk & Wodka" exhibitions and installations for Switzerland like for the comic festival Fumetto in Luzern and also for the abroad Istanbul and Berlin. San Remo had his solo exhibition for the tower living room!
The flashy and colorful colors reminds on Pop-Art, his pictures and figures telling about adventures, love, life and death with a brezze of black humor! In the front of the bar you can see two record covers "Dennerclan", that is the name of his band and his artist friend Roman!
Why the name "Milk & Wodka"? In the early morning San Remo feels like milk and in the evening like wodka. What inspires him for his comic art? The music, stories taken direct from life and songs lyrics.
